Gabriel is a very special merle French Bulldog boy who is looking for an extra committed and understanding adopter. Gabriel is only four years old but is missing an eye and blind in the other. Gabe developed a corneal ulcer which deteriorated so badly that the vet needed to take out the eye, since then he has developed some ulcers in the other side meaning he has limited or no sight remaining. He was signed over by his owner as he was struggling to cope in a busy household with small children. Gabe is very smart and adaptable, he copes very well with his lack of sight and is a jolly and friendly lad. Gabriel is in foster with a number of other special needs dogs and he has bonded well with them, he is clumsy and does bump into them and furniture until he had learned his surroundings. Gabriel is currently kept safe in a baby play pen while he is settling in and learning all the new sights and sounds. We take Gabriel out for the loo on a lead in the garden and use lots of verbal cues and he is very smart indeed and picking things up well. When we enter a room we talk to him and let him know we are close by. Once he recognises your voice he is very affectionate and loves a fuss. Gabriel is super loving and playful and a joy to be around.

Gabriel is castrated and recovering well, his stitches can be removed on Monday 23rd December by our vet in Southport free of charge. Gabriel is also fully vaccinated and flea and worm treated, he is microchipped and ready to find his new family.

Please tell us about your home and any experience with blind or disabled dogs on your form. Gabriel will do best in a quieter home with fewer visitors and with someone patient and ready to give him. chance.

We are currently very busy and rescue spaces are extremely limited – PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU HAVE HOLIDAYS BOOKED OR ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO FINALISE THE ADOPTION IN GOOD TIME – we have a huge waiting list which we are constantly juggling as we hate turning away dogs in need. Please tell us about and breed experience on your application form. Whilst a loving home is SO important for a rescue dog, they will also need structure, routine, boundaries and long term commitment.
